She was a single mom, barely making ends meet, and I knew her. So I stood beside her and said,"What if you could make a huge impact with two small acts, would you?"
She looked at me curiously, so I continued, "What if you could provide some food for your table, reducing your grocery bill a bit, and provide wildlife support at the same time..with just two simple acts that will cost you almost nothing." Now she laughed, and I had her attention.
"That's what Moon Shadow can help you do. It's a nonprofit that gives you the opportunity to grow some food of your own, in your yard, that your kids can help with by planting the seeds. You can do this with hardly any effort on your part. Put out some hay, sprinkle some seeds, add some water and watch the magic happen. Kids have fun. You have fun. The pollinators have food and refuge, so they have fun. A bit later, Ta~DAAH! Fresh, homegrown food for your table. That's a success in my book, no matter how you slice it. We even throw in the hay and some seeds for free. Interested?"
It was an emphatic yes from her.
Note: All but eight images currently on our website are not of Moon Shadow and her gardens. They are, however, hope for the future and holding spots for Moon Shadow images to come (two images on the blog page, two on the foundation page, three in the gallery & the gate picture here are ours; the rest are not)
Because we are new, both our website and the land are in the process of becoming and our land 'classrooms' and offices are temporarily closed. Check back with us here often to learn about and see our latest changes. You can also help us open our gates sooner with a kind donation. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
With love,
Moon Shadow
